Turn it off in TikTok’s privacy settings
To turn off TikTok Profile view history, open Profile → Menu (☰) → Settings and privacy → Privacy → Profile views, then switch Profile view history off.
When the feature is off, your visits are not shared through Profile view history, and you cannot use it to see who visited your own profile. It does not hide comments, likes or Story views.
Step-by-step on iPhone and Android
The settings route is the same general workflow on iOS and Android. Names and icon positions can vary by app version, so follow the labels rather than relying on a particular icon.
- Open your profile. In the TikTok mobile app, tap Profile at the bottom. If you use more than one account, first check that you are in the account whose setting you want to change.
- Open the account menu. Tap the Menu (☰) button near the top, then choose Settings and privacy.
- Find the profile-views control. Open Privacy and look for Profile views. This is separate from Post views and your watch history.
- Switch Profile view history off. Read the switch label and confirm it is disabled before opening another profile.
This path is described in TikTok’s profile view history help and the independent walkthroughs listed below. If your screen differs, start with the troubleshooting section instead of changing an unrelated privacy control.
Other ways to reach the same switch
You may already have a shortcut to the Profile views page. These routes lead to the same setting; you do not need to disable it separately in each place.
From your profile’s views shortcut
If a Profile views icon appears at the top of your own profile, open it and look for the settings or gear icon. From there, turn Profile view history off. The shortcut’s appearance can change, and it may not be present on every account.
From an Inbox notification
If your Inbox or Activity feed contains a notification about a profile visit, that notification may open the Profile views page. Use its settings icon to reach the switch. If there is no notification, use the main privacy-settings route; you do not need to wait for someone to visit.
Do not turn the feature on just to inspect a visitor list if your goal is to keep it disabled. Read any activation prompt before accepting it.
How to check that profile views are off
Return to Privacy → Profile views and inspect the switch itself. An empty visitor list is not proof that the setting is off: it can also mean there are no eligible visits to display.
- Confirm the active TikTok username is the account you intended to change.
- Check that the Profile view history switch is disabled, using its label or accessible state rather than color alone.
- Leave the screen, reopen it and check the switch again if the change did not appear to save.
If you switch between personal and work accounts, check each account separately. Clearing a browser’s cookies or using an incognito window does not replace checking an account’s privacy setting.
Why can’t I find Profile view history?
A missing setting is different from a switch that refuses to stay off. Work through these checks in order, so you do not spend time looking for a shortcut your account may not have.
| What you see | What to check next |
|---|---|
| No Profile views option | Check eligibility. Published guidance limits the feature to users aged 16 or older with fewer than 5,000 followers. |
| No views icon on your profile | Try Settings and privacy → Privacy. The shortcut is not the only entry point. |
| Menus look different | Check for an app update from the official app store, then look at the current privacy-menu labels. |
| You are using a computer | Use the TikTok mobile app if the web interface does not expose the control. |
| The switch seems to revert | Check your connection and active account, reopen the app, and inspect the saved switch state. |
Eligibility describes access to this feature; it is not a blanket statement about all visibility on TikTok. Do not change your birth date or account details merely to make an option appear. If an eligible account still lacks the control, use TikTok’s in-app help or Report a problem option.
Can you turn it off on a computer?
The reliable instructions in the reviewed guides use the mobile app. If you cannot find Profile view history in TikTok’s desktop settings, open the same account in the mobile app and follow the steps above. This guide does not assume every web layout has an equivalent switch.
You do not need a browser extension or a paid “privacy settings” service to follow those steps. ttokviewer also cannot change this TikTok account setting for you.
What happens when you turn off profile views?
Profile view history is reciprocal. Disabling it stops participation in that visitor-history feature in both directions. It is a narrower change than making your account private or removing your interactions.
| Activity or feature | Effect of turning profile history off |
|---|---|
| Your future profile visits | They are not shared through Profile view history while it is off. |
| Your own visitor history | You cannot use the feature to see participating profile visitors while it is off. |
| Comments, likes and follows | The switch does not remove these actions or hide the account behind them. |
| Post and Story views | These follow separate rules; the profile switch does not control them. |
| Public or private account status | This remains a separate privacy choice. |
If you want the full explanation of when a profile visit can appear, read Can Someone See If You Viewed Their TikTok Profile? It covers the two-account conditions and the difference between profile, post and Story views.
Also distinguish Profile view history from watch history. One concerns profile visitors; the other helps you find content you watched. Clearing watched videos is not the same operation as disabling profile-view sharing.
If you already viewed someone’s profile
Turn history off before future browsing if that is your preference, but do not treat it as a guaranteed undo button for an earlier visit. You cannot know whether someone already saw your account in their visitor list.
The reviewed articles do not establish a consistent, independently verified answer about earlier entries after an off/on change. We have not run a controlled two-account test of those transitions. For that reason, this guide does not promise immediate deletion, a specific disappearance delay or that re-enabling the feature cannot expose an earlier visit.
The feature is commonly described as showing a rolling 30-day history. That window is not evidence that every earlier entry stays visible for exactly 30 days after you turn the switch off. Avoid confusing the history window with a confirmed deletion schedule.
Deleting your watch history, reinstalling TikTok or logging out should not be treated as a verified method for removing your name from someone else’s profile-view history.
Looking for a public profile rather than changing settings?
If your next task is simply checking a public creator’s bio and posts, you can keep that task separate from managing a personal TikTok account. The ttokviewer TikTok account viewer lets you search a handle or paste a public profile link without supplying TikTok login credentials to ttokviewer.

ttokviewer displays available public information. It does not operate your TikTok privacy switch, unlock private accounts or erase past visits. If you follow a link into TikTok, check the session and settings you use there.
Have a link to a particular post instead? Start with the TikTok video viewer guide. It explains the public-video workflow without requiring you to navigate through a creator’s profile first.
Start with a handle or link.
Find a public creator or open an available TikTok post in one place.

Can I still see who viewed my profile if I turn it off?
No, not through Profile view history while the setting is off. The feature is reciprocal; there is no one-way option described in the reviewed instructions that lets you see eligible visitors while keeping your own visits excluded.
Will turning it off make my account private?
No. To restrict who can access your account’s content, review the separate Private account control and individual post settings. Disabling visitor history does not change your account’s audience by itself.
Can I turn Profile view history back on later?
If your account has access, return to the same switch to enable it. Doing so means participating in the reciprocal feature again. Do not use rapid off/on switching as a verified way to hide an earlier visit.
Does turning it off disable Story viewer lists?
No. Stories have separate viewer visibility. A disabled profile-history switch should not be used as permission to assume a Story view will be hidden.
Do I have to turn it off separately on iPhone and Android?
Check the account you are signed into rather than treating each phone as a different identity. If you use multiple TikTok accounts, inspect the switch on each one. When moving between devices, reopen the setting to confirm its current state.
